There is a filthy storm brewing in the United States these days. Unfortunately, mainstream voices fuel its destructive winds through euphemisms. What’s seen and experienced is called political incivility, political divide, a breakdown in public discourse, or the expressions of a “forgotten” demographic majority. However, these are only symptoms. This filthy storm I mention, this disease is bigotry, prejudice, racism & intolerance –with healthy portions of ethnocentrism & xenophobia. Until we call things what they are, the nation is destined to fall.

Latinas, Latinos, Hispanics, African-Americans, and other minorities patiently await “the next gale that sweeps from the north;” and like Patrick Henry will proclaim “give me liberty or give me death!”
