Broken Hope

(translation/version of Esperanza Rota)

by Luis S. González-Acevedo

Broken hope
Fly in a frenzy
Every day you distance yourself:
Less proximate to me …

… As I kiss your face,
my fantasies devour…
To roam your neck,
my hands yearn…

I didn’t have you;
but my ideas still loved you.
I don’t have you;
but they kiss you …

… Your innermost trembles over me;
and in my dreams, I’m the one who loves you.
