requiem for a snowflake
–december 9, 2020–
springfield, oh
by Luis S. González-Acevedo
winter winds cradled your last descent
falling whispers sang goodbye
all that wasn’t necessary was not said…
who would’ve thought snowflakes could die?
who could’ve known they’d close their eyes in bed?
a fate I did not have the power to prevent.
December Snowflake,
you melted on arrival
i vanished to the forgotten lake
of memories, without the hope of your survival.
p.s.
i shall not forget you –ever– in my abyss of heartache.
–requiem for a snowflake will appear in my book of poems & short stories titled Réquiem (release date | April 2021)–
