To Bed Without Gothic Jill

by Luis S. González-Acevedo

Sea green bluish eyes…
piercing through the bedroom window
dazed by the sea of empty glass
penetrating the darkness of the cold night sky.

Sea green bluish eyes…
anxiously expectant
catching glimpses of gothic ghosts
wishing they were the sunrise amber of glowing embers.

Embers burning in midtown…
Slowly drowning in the haze enveloped swamps…
Drowning embers…
Taking with them these sea green bluish eyes
into the sea of broken glass
shattered by the cold, dark winter’s night.

My Gothic Jill

by Luis S. González-Acevedo

Your eyes cast shadows
over desolate lands
of lifeless sorrows
where I’ve made my stands.

Jet-black strands
of hair radiate the morrow.
Deep, dark eyes and pale of hands
fill my soul’s deep hollow.

Your naked back on the canvas stand
and cadent brush with tips of hair
paint my lustful wetlands
shaking with tremors left to bear.

Poem: Death, Fall Upon My Tamed Face

Poem: Death, Fall Upon My Tamed Face

Selected Verses:

Death, Fall Upon My Tamed Face
(Translation of Muerte, Cae Sobre Mi Domada Frente)

Death, fall upon my tamed face.
Bring night’s darkness to my eyes;
and while they can still open and close,
bring me to my knees…

Silence my mortuary tears.
Proclaim for me an unstable life
that’s tortured by never-ending days
–a pernicious fortune badly suffered…

Poem: The Poetic Love Story of a Goth

Selected Verses:

Postscript On Gothic Red

Gothic Red –dressed as an imperial princess
whose eyes dawn with grayish blues…
Wear your native dress and crimson gloves
to veil your gentle pale-white skin
and freckled constellations born east of Berlin…

And such were the professor’s dreams:
illusions and fantasies of the mind
–yet compelling enough to create the world
of Gothic Jill…

…The Philosopher opens his eyes
and stares at the smears & stains
on his pillows & sheets: soot & tar.

Poem: The Poetic Love Story of a Goth

Selected Verses:

GothTombstoneRequiem for a Gothic Dream

Within the deepest confines
of my mind, you plumed
and branded gothic signs
that bled me, leaving me entombed.

You left a requiem for a dream:
my arms groping in the mist
of a pallid phantom’s scheme
whose kiss I did not dare resist.
