Poem… Moon and Sun

Moon and Sun

(translation|modification of Luna y Sol)

by Luis S. González-Acevedo

If the moon afflicts you
with joyless clouds,
you won’t see the cheerful sun,
king of happiness.

Poem… Passion

Passion

(translation|modification of Pasión)

by Luis S. González-Acevedo

Fantasies of words,
ecstasy without reason…
Only you reside
in the dwellings of my heart.

The love you offer
intoxicates my heart;
the love I correspond to
is without comparison.

You, My Love,
are unforgettable.
The longer my life,
the more, and more I’ll love you.

My Blessed Love,
you accompanied my youth,
became my light of joy,
and mitigated sorrows.

From your hands: a thousand caresses
From your lips: a thousand kisses
From your arms: a thousand delights
From your heart: eternal love.

The tender gaze
of your fountains of fondness
jet watery arches
into the pool of my soul’s affections.

Poem… My Life Smiles

My Life Smiles

(translation|modification of Mi Vida Sonríe por Tus Gestos)

by Luis S. González-Acevedo

My life does not weep in mourning.
Your body heals me with happiness
and mutes all crying.
Because of you, my life smiles.

Make me laugh with smiling gestures, Coquette.
Seduce my saddened soul
and embrace me with the steady winds
that caress the desert’s hellish heat.

Infuse life into this fallen soul
and make a smile out of my lips.
Soothe me with fresh breezes
over waves of warming joy.

Observe and study Ximena Sariñana’s gestures: perfect…
