Poem… Broken Hope

Broken Hope

(translation|modification of Esperanza Rota)

by Luis S. González-Acevedo

Broken hope
Fly in a frenzy
Every day you distance yourself:
Less proximate to me.

You are sentiment
You are my feeling,
even if the wind takes you
and I drown in suffering.

Where is your face?
I desire to caress
your tender cheeks
and kiss your lips.

As I kiss your face,
my fantasies devour…
To roam your neck,
my hands yearn…

I didn’t have you;
but my ideas still loved you.
I don’t have you;
but they kiss you.

My memories hold
your silken strands erotically in hand.
Your innermost trembles over me;
and in my dreams, I’m the one who loves you.
